Grade 4 – Key Signatures

Grade 4 music theory requires you to identify and correctly lay out key signatures:

  • of up to 5 sharps or flats
  • In Treble, Bass & Alto clefs

The following video explains how to lay out all key signatures (of up to 7 sharps/flats) in four different clefs: treble, bass, alto & tenor. Please note that you do not need to understand tenor clef at grade 4. The provision of tenor clef, along with more keys than you are expected to know at grade 4, is for information purposes only.
