Grade 4 – Double Sharps & Flats

At grade 4 you will be expected to recognise, understand and utilise double sharps and double flats. In a nutshell:

  • Double sharps (represented as a little ‘x’ on the stave) raise a note by a tone (or whole step)
  • Double flats (represented as ‘bb’ on the stave) lower a note by a tone (or a whole step)
