At grade 5 you may be required to suggest suitable chords for use at the end of a phrase or section in a piece of music. The following video explains how to work-out or calculate which chords would be suitable at such places.
The video also contains a short section on how to identify and recognise ‘passing’ and ‘auxiliary’ notes. Such notes can often be found in the melody and sometimes cause confusion for students trying to calculate the chord to be used at a cadence.
